Group Scout Leader Update:

As we roll into December, we look towards festive content and end of term celebrations. I’m looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the Christmas Service from 18:15 on Monday evening. Please don’t forget, if you can, to please bring non-perishable food donations for our food collection and some loose change for the church plate collection.

We desperately need a Secretary to join our Executive Committee. Someone who can keep us organised with chasing actions, sharing meeting content ahead of the exec meetings and being a super scribe during the every half-term sessions. If this could be you, or you know someone who’d ace it, please let us know.

The week ahead (2nd December 2019 onwards):

Section meetings

All sections will be going to the Christmas Service event on Monday this week, instead of their usual meetings. Family and friends all very welcome.

Future Beaver events

No details at this time.

Future Cub events

Miller’s Dale abseiling trip – those attending the trip will have received an email from Susie with the briefing details. Note that you must complete a digital consent form prior to the event.

Raptors will be having a Christmas party on Thursday 12th December. More details to follow.

Future Scout events

The week after the Christmas service, Enigma will be doing a night hike – meet at scout hut as usual. More details will follow if anything changes.

All scouts have had an email invite to the Scout Christmas Camp. This will be 20th to 22nd December in Castleton. Please follow the link from the email for the full details. Places are limited, so please let us know as soon as you can whether you’d like to go. Please rememebr that the deadline for requesting a place is 23:59 on Monday 2 December.

Adult volunteers

There are so many different ways to get involved with scouts and the wider community to help make a difference. Thank you to all those that helped at the switch-on of the Christmas lights – your support is really appreciated.

Previously:

Beavers

Castors, Boomers and Millstones had great fun on their trip to Air Haus. It was a great space to burn off some energy. We haven’t got many photos to share with you unfortunately as the leaders were busy enjoying themselves on the slide too!

Cubs

Bella Vista – Made festive shortbread biscuits this week! Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to decorate them. We made good use of our young leaders! We had a fantastic trumpet ‘name that time game’ from one of our cubs which means he has now successfully completed his stage 2 musicians badge! Well done Flynn!

Alegre – made Christmas stockings

Raptors had fun celebrating Thanksgiving. Thank you for your generous donations to the Food Bank collection.

Scouts

Enigma reviewed personal challenge badge progress this week. We also talked about food banks, how the food collection by Penistone Scouts hopes to help and how we can get involved. We finished off the meeting by making advent calendars. This was a great activity led by Harriet Duffey as part of her Young Leader work. Check out some of our artistic creations. Thanks Harriet!

Wibbles scouts had a change of plan as there were a few scouts missing. They enjoyed an evening of board games and loom band fun.

Viernes’ update didn’t make it in time for publishing.

Scorpion Explorers

Explorers spent this week planning and thinking about how they could use media to promote scouting and young people in a positive manner.

Welcome to December!  We look forward to celebrating with you at the Christmas service …
