Rewind: #66 – our week, recapped, plus reminders/bonus materials

Join us for "Rewind" where we’ve got your round-up of reminders and information about the coming week of Scouting, plus a recap of some of the past few week’s meetings and some other events.

Group Scout Leader update

Thank you to everyone who turned out on Sunday morning for the remembrance parades in Penistone and Thurlstone. Your attendance was very much appreciated at this important event in our calendar. The behaviour and focus from the oldest to youngest of our members was excellent and appropriate to this special occasion – proud of you all. (More photos being processed and will be shared next week)

The week ahead (11th November 2019 onwards)

Beavers

Section meetings

Castors, Boomers and Millstones will be bringing board games for others to try.

Cubs

Section meetings

Alegre are due to meet as usual this week. There will be an email if there’s anything different.

Bella Vista will be back to normal for the meeting this week – hoping not to be rained off again. Watch out for an email in the week if there’s anything you need to know.

Raptors are back in school this Thursday for a session we call ‘junk robot’! We need all the cubs to bring boxes and cardboard to put into the mix for this. Thanks.

Scouts

Section meetings

Enigma will be doing knots, navigation, pioneering and compass work. Come prepared for being outside.

Wibbles will be welcoming Richard, who’ll be telling us about his charity Ghana Outlook and the work that they do creating boreholes in needy areas of Ghana.

Viernes will be meeting as usual – you’ll get an email in the week if anything changes or there’s anything you need to know beforehand.

Explorers

Section meetings

Lots of Explorers had mock exams this week so numbers were different to usual. The group attending had the challenge of creating a recognisable figure from different types of biscuits and icing. There are some very talented biscuit artists amongst the group and all the creations were amazing!

Previously:

Beavers

Castors, Boomers and Millstones enjoyed their sparklers and s’mores evening. Thanks for the photos, Hannah. We were also pleased and proud to invest our new Boomer beavers.

Cubs

Bella Vista and Raptors meetings had to be cancelled last week due to the weather. Luckily everything had dried up a bit in time for the remembrance parade. A massive thank you from Rob to all who were able to take part in the remembrance parade in Thurlstone – it was our best turn out yet, and much appreciated by everyone who attended.

Scouts

Enigma learnt about Guy Fawkes this week. We made guys, which were judged in a competition. Then we had a huge bonfire to send them up in smoke!

Wibbles scouts went for a remembrance walk last week. We remembered the fallen and looked at why poppies symbolise this special day. Our patrol leaders all shared facts and poems about wartimes and we talked about the importance of keeping remembrance as part of our future for generations to come. We had some welcome chips on the way home and want to say a big ‘thank you’ to all the parents and grandparents who joined in with us.

Scorpion Explorers

This week, Explorers will be testing their skills to earn ‘scout pounds’ in order to have enough to ‘buy’ what they need for next week’s planned activity.

We hope you all have a good week…
