Leaders

The 12th March sees the next leader meeting. With, at the time of writing, this being 8 days away, we’re hoping this timely reminder will enable as many of you as possible to please attend our meeting.

With the reminders out of the way, let’s recap the week and see the additional footage.

This week:

Snowmageddon

Due to the delightful weather, we saw a host of cancelled or postponed section meetings this week. We always try to keep section nights on, even in the poorer weather; however, similar to schools we need to make sure we’ve sufficient adult support and we mitigate the risk of injury etc.

Farm to fork

Our beaver scouts were meant to be enjoying the farm to fork experience at Penistone Tesco; however, due to the adverse weather, we had to postpone. Tuesday’s snowfall was quite sudden and therefore some beavers had already made their way to the store. Big thanks to Tesco for entertaining the few who still made it.

Slides, snowballs, and an open fire

Bella Vista cubs (Thursday) still held a section meeting this week, albeit a different programme to the one planned. Half a dozen cubs made it to the scout hut, so we built a fire, had a snowball fight (or twenty) and used baking trays and makeshift sledges.

Car park

Thank you to those who came to the scout hut on Friday evening. We managed to get at least half of the car park cleared of snow and ice. Additionally, all the paths and access points were all completely cleared. That backbreaking work is never going to be the top of anyone’s Friday night plans, so we doff Bruce’s ginormous furry hat in your general direction.
