Penistone Gala & Mayor’s Parade is a fabulous weekend event that is a well established and much-loved event in the local area. Penistone Scouts are one of the joint organisers of the event, and like all the other organisers are volunteers. To make the event a success, we are reliant not only upon our leader team, but also the young people and parents/guardians/grandparents etc to please support our efforts.
How can I help?
Each year we staff a catering tent, from which we sell a variety of cakes and buns, plus, burgers and sausages. We need shifts of people to man this tent, taking payments from the general public and serving the food. Additionally, we need cakes and buns to be able to sell – the home baked varieties are well received and tend to sell better than the shop-bought produce.
Manning the event gates also falls to the Scouts. Supported by adults, our young people sell tickets on the day, and scan / welcome those who’ve pre-ordered tickets.
If you can bake, man the catering tent or help on the gates, we’d love to please help from you. Every pair of hands helps lighten the load and we can then work shifts to allow everyone to also get around the event and enjoy proceedings too.
