Volunteers are amazing. We have quite a few at Penistone Scouts’ and, as you’ll have recently seen, we’d love to engage more adult support. We aren’t the only people in the Barnsley region who welcome volunteers – we’ve teamed up with Barnsley Council for an initiative that aims to make volunteering opportunities more accessible to those wishing to give their time.
Starting on Tuesday 2nd April, running until Sunday 28th April, a treasure hunt competition will be taking place in Barnsley and its surrounding areas. There are sixty-two locations participants can visit, logging their visit in an event app by entering location codes found on display at the various premises. The higher number of codes collected, the greater the chance participants have of winning £250 worth of ShopAppy vouchers.
“The web-based app will be available to download on all platforms at lovevolunteering.co.uk from Tuesday 2 April. Residents can download the app on the launch day and click on ‘Treasure Hunt’ where a full list of instructions will explain exactly how to get involved.
