Executive Committee Group

Executive Committee members sought for Penistone Scouts

Penistone Scouts are going through a period of change with a new Group Scout Leader (GSL) being sought, an interim GSL currently in place and several current Executive members moving on to other things. Its a great time to become involved as we move into the future and help deliver more #SkillsforLife to young people.

Volunteering is fantastically rewarding, and roles within the Executive Committee provide opportunities to adults who would like to support our fabulous group albeit from more of an operational, strategic and governance perspective versus our section leadership team whom are primarily focused on the day-to-day scouting and programme for the young people.

The Executive Committee meet for a couple of hours in the evening every two months with the occasional ad hoc meeting.

We are specifically looking for executive members with a background in one or more the following areas;

  • Treasurer / Charity fiscal matters (Fact sheet)
  • Group Secretary (Fact sheet)
  • General roles to cover: (Fact sheet)
    • Strategic planning and strategy
    • Strategic Risk Management
    • Business Commercial Experience
    • Volunteer recruitment

If you’d like to make an application, we have a specific form we ask you to complete. Included on that page are more details about the duties and responsibilities of executive committee members.

The Group Annual General Meeting (AGM) takes place on the Monday 24th September, so ideally we’d love to receive your application by 23:59 hrs on Friday 21st September; however, if you’re reading this beyond that date and would like to volunteer, please still get in touch – scouting and the group are forever evolving and support is always welcome!

If a role on the executive committee isn’t for you, and you’d like to learn more about volunteering with one of our youth sections, please take a look at the following page.

At the time of writing, the group has over 320 members divided into 10 sections spanning the 6 to 18 years old age range. With over 200 young people on our joining list, the group continues to thrive and expand. With your support, we can continue to grow the group, expand our building and resources, reduce that waiting list and keep fantastic scouting opportunities accessible to the young people of Penistone.
